The Impact of Arts Education on Student Learning

Abstract

In ancient India “Gurukulam” a type of education system was comprised of self development, social awareness, integral personality development, preservation of knowledge and culture through various art activities such as music, dance, theatre, craft, painting and many more. Through art education mind is relaxed and engaged, it helps to navigate emotions, confidence, and develop creative minds. Involvement in art activities in a group improves cooperation and communication skills.NEP-2020 in India led strong emphasis on the incorporation of art education into the student learning process at every level of education. It signifies Art Education by stating “Art- Integration is across-curricular pedagogical approach that utilizes various aspects”. Learning Art not only impacts creativity but also improves learning in fields such as science, mathematics and in the field of literature. Students apply the art education learned in academics which improves their academic performance. This paper deals the impact of art education in development of student’s talent and creativity. It lays emphasis on the role of teachers in enhancing the teaching techniques through Arts Education. By different teaching concepts students can be exposed to achieve full potential in talent and creativity.
